1909

Thiru K Ramaswamy Chettiar came into this world on 17 September 1909 in the humble village of Chavadipalayam. This settlement lies in the heart of the Tirupur district close to the town of Kangeyam. His father Karupana Chettiar labored with unwavering resolve to support his growing family. His mother Papaammal devoted herself wholly to maintaining the household and passing down time honored customs. Through their guidance he absorbed the core principles of integrity and community

1924

With just ₹36 in his pocket and a heart full of determination, K Ramaswamy Chettiar journeyed to Bangalore alongside his brother. What he carried was more than money — it was a dream to uplift his family and create a future filled with opportunity, dignity, and purpose.

1930

He started his career as an accountant under the guidance of Raja Venkatram Chetty, gaining valuable experience and laying the foundation for his future endeavors, a journey that continued until 1930.

1931

He later joined the business as a trusted partner, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey and taking a significant step toward building his own legacy.

1941

After showcasing his skills and dedication in Bangalore, he expanded his vision by establishing a branch of the ghee business in Shivamogga & Mysore, where he successfully managed operations for several years.

1942

In pursuit of his passion for purity and tradition, he partnered with his brother Muthukaruapanna Chettiar to establish a ghee business in Bangalore. With a strong commitment to quality and zero adulteration, they earned a trusted reputation. During this time, they proudly supplied ghee to the British military at the cantonment camp — a service that continued till 1944.

1948

After successfully establishing the business in Bangalore, he passed it on to his brother and returned to his roots in Tirupur—a town on the rise as a hub of opportunity and growth. With renewed vision and entrepreneurial spirit, he founded Dhanalakshmi & Co (DLC) and introduced the brand Senbagam, offering pure, high-quality ghee that quickly gained the trust of households. Through dedication and excellence, he expanded its presence across Tamil Nadu and reestablished a strong connection with the Bangalore market, setting new standards in the ghee industry.

1968

With a continued passion for quality and innovation, he established Rama Rice and Oil Mill in Tirupur, focusing on the production of premium edible oils. In 1982, after decades of dedicated entrepreneurship, he handed over all his businesses to his sons. Thiru K. Ramaswamy Chettiar passed away in 1983, leaving behind a rich legacy of integrity, hard work, and visionary leadership.

2000

Carrying forward the legacy, his son K. R. Shanmugam Chettiar took the reins of the oil and ghee business under the name Ramaswamy Chettiar & Sons. successfully leading Rama Rice and Oil Mill with dedication and integrity until the year 2000 With a fresh vision and entrepreneurial drive, his grandson R. S. Sankaranarayanan Chettiar stepped into the family business in 2000. Embracing tradition while steering toward innovation, he rebranded the firm as Sree Ram & Co. and introduced the iconic KRC Raasi Ghee a name that quickly became synonymous with purity, quality, and trust in households across the region.
